This is the preparatory cycle for the upper-level degree, designed for young people who have achieved a good level of instrumental and musical language skills.
This stage is aimed at students who are considering continuing their studies at the higher education level and pursuing a professional career in music, as well as those who, without intending to pursue it professionally, wish to maintain a high level of musical training and continue growing artistically. The curriculum includes practical and theoretical courses such as principal instrument, chamber music, music theory, harmony, music history, and instrumental and/or vocal ensemble, among others.
Main instrument
The Principal Instrument course is the central core of professional degree studies, both in the classical and modern fields. The objective is to deepen the technical and expressive mastery of the instrument while developing a personal voice as an interpreter. Throughout the course, students work on the technique and specific repertoire of each style, musical interpretation with bodily and artistic awareness, as well as sight-reading, memorization, and expressiveness.
Codes
The Music Notation course in the professional degree aims to deepen the understanding and active use of the elements of musical language. It covers reading and intonation of scores, rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic dictation, and the formal analysis of works.
This training is key to developing ear training, auditory memory, and musical understanding, and helps strengthen the link between theory and instrumental practice, providing a solid foundation for both performance and musical creation.
Music Analysis
The Music Analysis course in the professional degree allows students to understand the structure and basic elements of musical works, thereby improving their performance and critical listening. Through the study of scores and the analysis of styles and compositional techniques, a solid artistic judgment is developed that contributes to a comprehensive musical education.
Harmony
The harmony course in the professional degree studies the principles of combining sounds and building chords, as well as harmonic progressions and functions, working with both classical and modern harmony. Through analysis and writing exercises, students develop the ability to understand and apply harmonic resources in different styles, providing an essential theoretical and practical foundation for musical training.
Vocal Ensemble
The Vocal Ensemble course allows students to develop specific skills such as pitch accuracy, tonal balance, coordination, and active listening within a group context. Through group singing, vocal technique and interpretation are consolidated, working on different styles and repertoires adapted to the level. Active participation and commitment throughout the course are essential, and the course includes public performances that are part of the students' stage and musical development.
Instrumental ensemble
The Instrumental Ensemble course is an opportunity to play in a group, whether in chamber music or modern music combos, according to each student's taste and style. It's a space where coordination with fellow musicians, musical communication, and the performance of varied repertoire are worked on.
In these ensembles, whether classical or modern, aspects such as intonation, rhythm, dynamics, and expressiveness are practiced, fostering creativity and responsibility within the group. Regular attendance at rehearsals and participation in performances are essential for learning and enjoying playing as a team.
Music production
The course focuses on developing musical creativity through composition, incorporating technological and practical resources. Through concrete projects, students experiment with sounds, rhythms, and textures to explore and define their own musical language. Composition tools and techniques for audiovisual media are covered, as well as the use of audio production and editing software and basic recording and mixing concepts. The goal is to enhance students' expressive and compositional abilities by connecting musical thinking with the creative possibilities of the digital environment.
