During the middle years, in addition to the core theory and instrument courses, students add an elective course based on their musical interests and their level on the instrument.
Core subjects
Codes (60-minute group class/week)
Students are introduced to musical language through reading practice, rhythm study, ear training, pitch adjustment, and improvisation practice.
All of these aspects are worked on through a series of active exercises designed to help students acquire a good level of language in a playful, collaborative way.
The music theory class is required in order to play an instrument.
Individual instrument (30 min/week)
This class offers students the opportunity for individual, fully personalized learning, as it allows our teachers to tailor instruction to each student's needs, abilities, and learning style.
Lessons are offered in guitar, bass, piano, drums, vocals, viola, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and euphonium.
Electives
Vocal Ensemble
Being part of a vocal ensemble allows students to discover singing as a collective experience, improve musical expression, and enjoy group performance. Throughout the course, a varied repertoire appropriate to age and level is worked on, with performances open to the public at different times of the year.
Participation in a vocal ensemble requires a commitment for the entire course and attendance at the scheduled concerts and activities, which are an essential part of the educational process.
Instrumental ensemble
Participating in an instrumental ensemble is an opportunity to enjoy making music together, share learning with other students, and experience performing concerts throughout the school year. Ensembles can be either chamber music or modern music, depending on students' interests and skill level.
To be eligible, students must have completed at least two years of individual instrument instruction. Participation in an ensemble requires a commitment for the entire course and attendance at scheduled performances, which are part of the group's work and each student's musical development.
Music production
This elective course is aimed at students aged 10 and up and offers a practical, accessible introduction to the world of music creation through current technologies. No prior knowledge of music theory or instrument is required, making it an alternative or complementary pathway to traditional music studies.
The course includes content such as the use of audio production and editing software, basic recording and mixing techniques, and composition tools for audiovisual media. Through practical projects, students work with sounds, rhythms, and textures, and develop their creative and expressive abilities within the musical realm.
